Properties of cosmic ray muons including their flux at sea level and the East-West asymmetry are studied. While these properties have been measured well in previous experiments, it has been beneficial to study cosmic ray as it has led to the optimization of our test stand performance and the development of analysis tools required in later testing of the resistive plate counters.

Beam Test Results on Resistive Plate Chambers for the CMS Experiment

Resistive Plate Chambers were tested in a muon and a pion beam to study the performances at different running conditions. Results on a first chamber built without the linseed oil treatment of the bakelite surfaces are presented together with an evaluation of the local effects due the spacers.
